Ranjith loses district leadership after following Basil’s directives

Opposition and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided not to appoint former UNP parliamentarian Ranjith Madduma Bandara as the party’s Moneragala District Leader after he had allegedly altered the UNP Moneragala District nominations list following a directive by Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa, sources from Sirikotha said. The UNP makes is district organizer  posts annually and the UNP Working Committee had decided to appoint Madduma Bandara as the party’s Moneragala District Leader. However, the party leadership had informed   Sirikotha officials not to hand over the appointment letter to Madduma Banadara..

The UNP General Secretary has already complained to the Election Commissioner that the party’s nominations list for the Moneragala District that was handed over to the District Returning Officer had been altered by removing Uva Provincial Council member Tissa Kuttiarachchi’s name and including the name of another along with a forged signature of the party secretary.
